 KC's Journal

Journal,

Today was my 10th birthday, and I got a dress from Mommy and Daddy...again. This time is was a royal purple, embedded with jewels and embroidery. I'm too young to wear real corsets, but this dress tightened around my mid-section quite a lot, and I can only imagine how much corsets will hurt once I grow.

After my party and going around town for promoting, seeing all the same old and boring formal people again, I changed into my usual pants and shirt I stole from my older brother's younger years and snuck out to Mr. Turner's shop, where he showed me more swordplay techniques. I'm nowhere near as good as him, but someday I hope to be.

Journal,

Mr. Turner gave me a pair of swords, finally, because he deemed me good enough to weild them on my own. And it only took me 17 years in life to earn them. But soon afterward he had to leave with his betrothed, Miss Elizabeth Swann, so I left to the docks and watched ships comes and go. As the sun set, however, I had to rush home and change for the party that evening, to celebrate the promotion of a New Commodore. It has been so long since I've seen Norrington, now that I think of it...

Journal,

I've been hired at the docks, mostly due to my being there all day, to help load and unload cargo. They say it's bad luck for a 19-year-old upper class girl to be working there, but I pay them no mind. I don't like being referred to as upper-class. In fact, I'd love to just be a commoner, free to act and do as I please, away from the pressures of keep my family name and my presumed image intact. But someday I hope to be out there on the waters, sailing as part of a crew of a ship...I'd wager that if the time came, I'd even join a pirate ship.
